Spurgas, Zachary “Zak” of Windham, CT passed away suddenly on May 15th at the age of 31 (born August 13th, 1989).
Zak is survived by his fiancé, Brittany Tino of Windham, the love of his life; his parents, Melody Spurgas of Middletown and Richard Spurgas Jr. of North Franklin, his sister, Desiree Spurgas of Manchester, his grandparents Richard and Dorothy Spurgas and Gary Parsons, and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Zak is predeceased by his grandmother, Judith Fava and grandfather Howard “Pete” Swiney.
Zak will be long remembered to his mother as “Boobalah,”. To his family as a loving son and grandson. To his fiancé he was the light of her life. To Tom Brady as his #1 fan, and to all his friends as an irreplaceable source of joy and laughter. Anyone who knew Zak knew his love and protective nature for his “#1 girl,” his sister, despite her challenges which he took on as his own.
Zak was a dedicated worker, a life-long resident of the Norwich area, and an amazing chef. He was a true Leo who always commanded the room with great energy, quick wit, and a competitive streak. Zak loved sports and had a wealth of knowledge.
Zachary’s spirit will forever live on in all us for which we will garner strength and solace.
On Saturday May 22nd, Cummings and Gagne Funeral Home in Norwich will hold calling hours from 9 to 10 am with a service and burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Zak’s name to either:
