Theresa M. (Gauthier) DeBartolo

August 20th, 1940 – April 12th, 2022

Theresa “Terrie” M. DeBartolo, 81, passed away on Tuesday, April 12th 2022 at William W. Backus Hospital. Born in Norwich, she was the daughter of Adelard “George” and Violette Grace (Leith) Gauthier. Terrie was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy Class of 1958 where she was active in after school sports.

On November 15th, 1958 at St. Mary’s Church in Greenville, she was united in marriage to Victor J. DeBartolo. Terrie was a stay-at-home mom until her daughters, Deborah A. (DeBartolo) Barber of Norwich and Susan V. DeBartolo of Waterford, graduated from high school. She felt that was very important. Terrie went on to work at Foxwoods Resort Casino for 15 years as a communication operator.

Terrie enjoyed going out to dinner with her cousins once a month. She was an avid fan of Tom Brady, the New England Patriots, and UConn Women’s Basketball. Above all else, Terrie cherished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved endlessly.

Terrie was predeceased by her parents, husband, and brother, Roland Joseph Gauthier. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah and Susan, three granddaughters Caitlin M. (Barber) Blair, Angela S. (Berry) Talley, and Alexandra P. (Barber) Hughes well as her four great-grandchildren, Ella, Beau, Maverick and Colton. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Florence M. Gauthier of Norwich and many nieces, nephews, and beloved cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Thursday, April 21st, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00pm in the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home 82 Cliff St. Norwich, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 22nd, 2022 at 10:00am in Sacred Heart Church, 57 West Town St., Norwich, CT. Burial to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
