Susan H. Sullivan, 64, of Norwich, Connecticut, passed away on April 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones after a tough battle with cancer. She was born to Margaret and Robert Hussey on April 26, 1959, in Norwich, Connecticut and spent her early childhood in Holliston, Massachusetts. She attended Norwich Free Academy, graduating in 1977 and went on to study Communications at UConn, graduating in 1981. On October 20, 1990, Susan and Thomas Sullivan were married in Norwich, where they made their home and raised three children: Bobby, Meg, and Kiera Sullivan.
Susan will be remembered most for her quick wit and great sense of humor. She was passionate about Boston sports, the arts and music, and the Beatles. Susan loved spending summers in Black Point and cherished any occasion to entertain family and friends at her home in Norwich.
She was very involved in her community and her children's lives. While she enjoyed her career as a realtor, she most enjoyed lending her time to serving the Norwich City Hall as an Assistant Registrar during elections and the Black Point Women’s Club as a member. She was a proud parishioner of St. Patrick's Cathedral, serving as a board member and later president of the School's Home School Association during her children's time there.
Susan loved the beach, swimming, watching the Red Sox, Patriots, and UConn Girls, spending time with friends, going to museums and art shows, and being with her children.
Susan is survived by her mother, Margaret Hussey, and her three children, Robert "Bobby" Sullivan, Margaret "Meg" Sullivan, and Kiera Sullivan. In addition to her mother and children, Susan is survived by her three sisters and their families; Judith and Owen Eagan of West Hartford, Lynda and Thomas Twomey of Midlothian, VA, Cathleen Special of Norwich; brothers and sisters in law; Maureen Sullivan and husband Jack Siggins of East Haddam, Carole and Richard McCarthy of Mystic, Joanne Sullivan of Windsor, Jean and Gerard Depot of Norwich, John and Debra Sullivan of Cromwell, James Sullivan of Norwich, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Hussey, her husband, Thomas Sullivan, and her brother in law, Robert Sullivan.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Norwich at 10:00 am on Friday, May 10th. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Susan Sullivan was loved dearly and will be missed immensely.
