Ruth Cardoza, 99, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2026. She was born in East Wareham, Massachusetts on February 26, 1927 and attended local Norwich schools, graduating from NFA in June of 1945. She was a proud employee of King-Seeley Thermos in both Taftville and Norwich for many years and served as a teacher’s aide at various Norwich schools until her retirement. Aunt Ruthie’s house served as a gathering place for family and friends on holidays and she had a special way of making all who knew her feel special and loved.
Ruth leaves behind her sons Stephen of Norwich and Leonard of East Lyme, three granddaughters Nicole, Christina and Jacqueline Cardoza and many nieces and nephews, family and friends.
She was predeceased by her daughter Maria “Melanie” Cardoza, her husband Leo and her sisters Lydia Gonsalves, Eva Rodrigues and Frances (Beebe) Marceline and her brothers Abel (Bei) Perry, Frank Perry and George Gomes.
There will be a Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Friday July 24 at 10 AM followed by an interment at St. Joseph Cemetery.
