Kathleen Hart Cummings

Kathleen Hart Cummings 1951-2021 Norwich – Kathleen Hart Cummings, 70, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2021. She was born on March 2, 1951, the daughter of Genevieve Hart Bergendahl and Major Paul Hart, USAF.

Kathleen was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees while living in Miami, Florida. Kathleen returned to Norwich and married Timothy R. Cummings. During their marriage, they had two children, a daughter Jennifer Hart born in 1980 and son Timothy Patrick born in 1981 who only lived a day. Kathleen worked in education at St Patrick’s Cathedral School and Norwich Free Academy.

Kathleen’s greatest accomplishment and joy in life was being a mother. She and her daughter Jennifer enjoyed a close and special relationship. Kathleen was a kind, thoughtful, and generous friend to many, selfless in nature, putting the needs of others ahead of her own. Despite the hardships she faced, she remained strong, spirited, and resilient. She was always with good humor, a warm smile, and welcoming nature whenever you were in her company. She loved entertaining and nothing made her happier than her friends, cousins, and neighbors coming by for a visit.

Kathleen was predeceased by her father Major Paul Hart, USAF, her mother Genevieve Hart Bergendal, her brother Dennis Michael Hart, and son Timothy Patrick Cummings. Kathleen leaves behind her daughter Jennifer Hart Cummings, countless friends, and extended family.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, July 2, 2021 at 10:00am at Sacred Heart Church, 57 West Town St, Norwich, CT 06360. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
