John "JP" Gleason Sr.
Oakdale — John "PJ" M. Gleason Sr., 72, of Florida Drive passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2022, at William W. Backus Hospital.
He was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Holden, Mass., the son of Willis and Ila (Pointer) Gleason.
He worked at Amgraph Packaging and Robertson Paperbox. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Montville. He was a two tour Vietnam Veteran. He loved his grandchildren, fishing and motorcycles.
John was predeceased by his children, John M. Gleason Jr, Christopher J. Gleason, Mary-Jo Jarry; brothers, Michael, Roger; and sister Donna.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary-Jo Gleason; grandchildren, Kyle, Nikki, Bentley, Devin, Jasmine, Gabby, Ivy (Jon), Joelle, Brianna, Ivan (Melissa), Michelle; brothers, Mark, Russell; sisters, Beverly, Kathleen; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff Street Norwich. A Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, 213 Broadway, Norwich.
