Bozrah - Joao D’Oliveira Lopes, 81, of Fitchville Road passed away Saturday August 8, 2020 at the W. W. Backus Hospital.

He was born July 22, 1939 in Brava, Cape Verde to Emmanuel and Palmira (D’Oliveira) Lopes.

Joao worked for many years as a machine operator.

Joao is survived by his wife Maria (Livramento) Lopes, six children Palmira (Luis) Pires, Jose Lopes, Elizabeth Lopes, Emmanuel Lopes, Ulisses Lopes, Carlos (Isa) Lopes, sister Emelia Mendes of Boston, fifteen grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be August 17, 2020 from 10 to 12 PM at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home 82 Cliff Street Norwich, CT with a service to follow at 12 PM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Norwich.
