Frederick “Rick” B. Seitz, age 73, of Bozrah CT, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2022.
Born in Norwich CT, the son of late Henry Seitz and Jeanne (Wheelock) Seitz, on October 14, 1949. He was a 1967 graduate of Norwich Free Academy, then proudly served in the U.S. Army from May 1968 to November 1970. Following his discharge, he continued a life of public service as a City of Norwich Police Officer from 1971 to 1979 before becoming a City of Norwich Firefighter until his retirement in 1997.
A member of the Norwich VFW Aux. Post 594, Rick was proud of his service to his Country and his patriotism was always on display. His vehicle could easily be spotted from miles away with his American flag flying from the window. Rick was also a lifelong member of the Bozrah Moose Lodge 950. He was an avid golfer, lover of the beach, and a true fan of NASCAR.
Rick was a devoted family man and friend to many. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Holly Seitz of Sprague; daughter and son-in-law Krysta and Sam Jennings of Lisbon; his beloved grandchildren Cohen, Gemma, Camden, and June; former wife Kathy Seitz of Norwich; sister and brother-in-law Karen-Lea and Frederick Reynolds of Bozrah; sister and brother-in-law Carol-Lou and Peter Ballaro of Franklin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents Henry (1989) & Jeanne (1998) Seitz, of Norwich; his brother-in-law Richard P. Rathbun (1995) of Franklin; and nephew Frederick Reynolds Jr. (1991) of Amston.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation in Rick’s name to the Norwich VFW Post 594.
A burial for family and close friends will be held at 11 am on Friday, October 28th, at the Plains Cemetery in Franklin CT. A celebration of life will follow at the Norwich VFW Post 594 where all are invited to attend.
