Bahria Hartman
Norwich — Bahria “Bi” Harb Hartman of Norwich, died peacefully Aug. 28, 2023, at the age of 96. The only daughter and oldest child of George and Nabiha Harb, she was a lifelong resident of Norwich, graduating from Norwich Free Academy and working for many years as a bookkeeper for several local businesses.
She was married for 50 years to Lieutenant Commander Herbert Hartman, U.S. Navy, of Memphis, Texas, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Anthony Harb and Joseph Harb. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was a great fan of both the Norwich Free Academy, organizing reunions of her graduating class for more than 50 years, and the Otis Library, which in 2006, accepted her donation of 65 years’ worth of scrapbooks memorializing local citizens from World War II onward who died in military service.
Bi’s family would like to thank lifelong friend Kelly Anthony for taking on the responsibilities of Bi’s care during her final years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, 181 Elizabeth St., Norwich.
