Alicia K. (Kirby) Dyer

Alicia K. Dyer of Norwich, CT, wife of the late Robert J. Dyer passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2022. She was born on June 2, 1928 to Alyce and Andrew Kirby of Norwich. She grew up in Norwich and was an alumna of Norwich Free Academy. She worked at Kelly Jr. High School as a cook in the cafeteria as well as a cashier at the A&P supermarket in her earlier years. 

She was a resident of St. Jude’s Common, an independent assisted living facility for the past 18 years. She was the President of the Resident’s Association for the past 18 years as well.. She loved doing crossword puzzles and crafts and spending time with her family. 

She was the loving mother to three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Arnold Nieminen of Lebanon, CT, , Alicia and Walter Prouty of Las Cruces, NM, and Kate and Chuck Morrell of Plainfield, CT who all survive her.

She also leaves two granddaughters, Kristen Tarryk (Donald) and Erin Morrell and three grandsons, Kurt Nieminen (Sonia), Rob Morrell and Augustus Prouty and eight great grandchildren Donald Jr.(Amanda), Zachary and Jacob Tarryk, and Kristina, Connor, Keri, Chloe and Katerina Nieminen.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, September 7th from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Cummings Gagne Funeral Home at 82 Cliff Street, Norwich, CT. A Christian mass at St. Peter & Paul’s Church located at 181 Elizabeth Street, Norwich, CT will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 8th. Internment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, located at 815 Boswell Avenue, Norwich, CT. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Common, 3 Myrtle Drive, Norwich, CT for the residents.
