Alexander Drozynski Obituary

ALEXANDER G. DROZYNSKI, 28, of Norwich, CT passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, after years of battling drug addiction. Alex was born on June 2, 1993 in Norwich to Gregory and Lisa Drozynski.

Alex fought for many years to overcome his battle with addiction. Addiction isn’t a word that should forever define or encapsulate, Alex. No one wakes up one day and says to themselves “I want to be an addict”.  No family wants to watch someone they love struggle with addiction; frequent rehabilitation center trips and dealing with the criminal justice system. Addiction does not discriminate; it will take hold and destroy anyone in its path, including the families and people who love them.

Individuals who truly knew Alex would agree that he was loyal to a fault, would do anything for you. He loved to make people laugh with his wit and humor, even while struggling with his demons. He was beautiful inside and out and had this smile and contagious laugh that we will never forget.

Alex, we can only pray that you found the peace that you needed to finally quiet the voices in your head. We know you tried hard to break the chains of this demon that is wiping out a generation.

You were a blessing to everyone whose lives you have touched. We know you are watching over us and are laughing at all the meaningful memories you have left us with.

Alex is survived by his loving parents, Greg & Tracy Drozynski of Norwich and Duane & Lisa Skovinski of Quaker Hill. He is also survived by his four brothers, Brandon Drozynski and his wife Katelyn, Ryan Skovinski, Justin Skovinski and his wife Sydney, and Kristian Skovinski. He is the grandson of Richard & Patricia Smith, Jr. of Griswold, great-grandson of Dorothy Murphy & Cora Smith of Griswold. He also leaves behind his very dear aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and a nephew. Alex loved being around his family and a couple dear “FRIENDS” who I know he cared a lot about.

He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents Raymond and Edna Drozynski of Norwich and his uncle Richard Smith, III of Griswold.

A memorial service will be planned at a later date at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers please donate in Alex’s memory, to a charitable organization that works with substance abuse and addiction.
