Alan Joseph Mitchell

Alan Joseph Mitchell of Waterford, died May 24,2022 after a lifelong struggle with addiction, at William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, CT. He was born on October 16, 1964, in New London. He was the son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Romeo) Mitchell.

He was employed by Northeast Paving of Waterford for over 20 years, under his long time boss and friend Gina. Whenever missing on job sites near the water, he could he found taking pictures of the beach, sunrise and sunsets. He loved to fish, taking many trips on the Mijoy & the Blackhawk of Niantic. Many Friday nights he could be found playing Bingo at Foxwoods Casino. He loved to cook, especially prime rib & lobster, but enjoyed eating just as much. He was a die hard Philadelphia Eagles fan, never missing a game.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. No matter how bad your mood was, Al would make you laugh with his silliness and constant jokes. 

He is remembered by his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Wilson & her children, Ronnie, Tyler & Welsey. A daughter, Ashley Epley, two sons, Michael & Cody Mitchell, two sisters, Diane Mitchell & Kathy Banta, and a brother, Gary ( Tara ) Mitchell. His Uncle & Aunt, Edward & Marge Mitchell. Many nieces & nephews, several great-nieces & great-nephews, and many cousins.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, John Mitchell; A niece, Angelica Mitchell; & Jennifers' son, Kyle Wilson, and so many more people he loved.

The family will receive callers Sunday, May 29, 2022 3-5p.m. at Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home, 82 Cliff Street. Norwich, CT
