PLAINFIELD, CT - Peter Paul Murdock, 73, of Windsor Avenue passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Saturday, July 7, 2018 at W. W. Backus Hospital. He was born June 10, 1945 in New Haven the son of Charles Stanley and Mary Elizabeth (Sternchak) Murdock.
Peter joined the U.S. Coast Guard in 1965 and served his Country honorably. His bravery during the Vietnam War earned him a Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze star while serving aboard the Coast Guard Cutter, Barataria. He was discharged with honors from the U.S. Coast Guard in the summer of 1969 as a Radar Operator, 2nd Class Petty Officer.
Prior to battling almost 20 years of health issues, Peter worked as a dealer at Mohegan Sun. Of all the work he did in his life, this was Peters favorite job. He loved nothing more than getting paid to play games all day! He was also an avid fisherman and cook. He was the families gourmet chef for all the holidays and family gatherings. His home will forever be on Hopeville Pond (Griswold, CT) where he lived from 1980 to 2004 where he spent many hours in his aluminum boats trolling for trout.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Brewster Newey Murdock, and sister Virginia Mae Murdock Irwin.
He is survived by his two daughters Coby Tiffany Hope Murdock of Port Charlotte, FL, Cleazoe Malek and her husband David Malek of Pawcatuck, CT the parents of his two beloved grandchildren Taylor Mackenzie Hanes and Jack Peter Malek who adored their “Poppy”, brother Charles William Murdock of New Mexico, as well as his caregiver and advocate for the last 19 years Doreen Murdock (Dauphinais) of Griswold, CT and several nieces and nephews, all of who he loved and cherished. The family would also like to thank the staff at Colonial Health and Rehabilitation of Plainfield for caring for Peter all these years.
A private burial with military honors will be held for Peter this summer at Beaverdale Memorial Park in New Haven, CT.
