Lisbon – Barbara June Formiglio, 66, of Lisbon passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the W. W. Backus Hospital.
She was born June 17, 1952 in Norwich the youngest daughter to Gilbert and Dorothy (White) Johnson.
Barbara grew up in Norwich on Mohegan Park Road. She graduated NFA in 1970 and joined the Army. After she returned home, Barbara spent her life raising her children and worked as a waitress and catering but her final job was as a Flagger in the Laborers Union. Barbara suffered a severe work injury in 2007 and fought to regain her life and prove doctors wrong over the next couple years. She lived the remainder of her life doing what she loved most, spending time with her children, grandchildren and family. Barbara also very much enjoyed her time at the Griswold and Lisbon Senior Centers where she loved playing Bingo, Pokeno and becoming a Wii Bowling champion with the trophies to prove it. Barbara had a contagious smile, kindest of heart, loved with all she had, and she will be truly missed by so many.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, sister Maureen Johnson and ex-husband Michael Formiglio Sr.
She is survived by a son Michael Formiglio and his wife Michelle, daughter Ashley Nazarian and her husband Todd, daughter Jennie Formiglio, brother William Johnson, two sisters Sandra Lafayette and Bonnie McIntyre and her husband Doug, six grandchildren Makaela, Kai, Tyler, Kasen, Ahna and Hunter, as well as her aunt Gloria Setka and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday March 3, 2019 from 3 to 5 at the Cummings-Gagne Funeral Home 82 Cliff Street Norwich, CT.
A funeral service will be Monday March 4, 2019 at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Church 70 Central Ave Norwich, CT.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the CT Brain Injury Support Network.
